How We Got Our Bible (Pt.3)

Without question, the foremost claim to the Bible being the Inspired Word of God is prophecy.  No other religious book dares to do what the Bible does.  A staggering 27% of the Bible (just over a ¼ ) is comprised of prophecy; that is, God goes down on record to state things that will happen prior to them happening so that when they come to pass you will know that what God said (past) was true and therefore what God says (future) is also true!!

In this teaching we begin to explore the breathtaking prophecies contained within the pages of the Bible, especially as they relate to Israel's Messiah.

Exodus 4:10-16

When God calls...what will be your response?  It is an amazing thing that the God of the universe would ask man to cooperate with Him in bringing about His divine purposes!!  God knows our weaknesses and fears, our hang-ups and insecurities, yet He still asks us to GO!!  Moses was a man called of God, who 40 years prior to His call sought to deliver Israel in the strength of his own flesh.  Moses was in learned in the ways of Egypt for 40 years and it took God 40 years in the wilderness to take Egypt out of Moses!  By the time God had finished with Moses his response to God was "who am I".  With all self-confidence stripped away, Moses was left conscious of his lack of eloquence in speech and this proved to be a stumbling block.

Dear Saints, God is not asking you to go in your own strength but in the strength that He will supply!!

How We Got Our Bible (Pt. 2)

When we speak of the Bible being the inspired Word of God, how are we to understand this?   Did God dictate word-for-word what He wanted written down so the writers of the Bible became human typewriters or did He make full use of their characters and personalities making full use their literary writing styles to bring into being His Word?  Were the authors of the Bible conscience of the fact that they were penning the very Word of God or were they oblivious to this realty?

In this teaching we seek to answer these questions and many more as we explore the Biblical concept of inspiration and the evidence to support it from Archaeology.

Romans chapter 6

Paul brings a strong word calling the Body of Christ to holiness.  There is much misunderstanding in the Body of Christ regarding what true holiness consists of.  On one extreme there is a total absence of such a concept and on the other legalism abounds.  Paul seeks to bring the balance through the sound teaching and exposition of Romans chapter 6 and surrounding chapters.  May the Lord open your eyes and grant you grace to see these precious truths!!

Genesis 45:25-28

This message is one both of hope and encouragement but also one of soberness.  There is a common misconception that exists amongst many believers today in the West.  They hold that the Christian life is one only of happiness and celebration, joy and jubilation, peace and prosperity.  This message highlights through the life of Jacob that as Christians we are not immune to afflictions and tribulations.  Jacob was a man who walked with God and yet he was a man who was not immune to affliction.  He mourned his beloved son Joseph for nearly two decades thinking him to torn by a wild beast.  During this time the heavens were silent, no word was given from God as to the true condition of his son.  Then alas the thunder clouds broke giving way to the brightness of the blue skies, Joseph is yet alive!!  Whatever you are going through as a Christian, this message is bound to bring you hope and encouragement!

How We Got Our Bible (Pt. 1)

To say that the Bible is unique is perhaps an understatement.  No other book in the history of mankind has so served to shape and influence the lives of so many for the good than has the Bible.  Written over a period of about 1500 years; comprised of 66 books written in three different languages (Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek) on three different continents (Africa, Asia and Europe) by more than 40 different authors most of whom never met or knew each other, coming from totally different backgrounds.  God inspired these men through the agency of His Holy Spirit to write down the exact revelation of His mind and will whilst at the same time making use of their individual personalities and characters.  You have tax-collector by the name of Matthew, a Prime Minister by the name of Daniel, a shepherd by the name of Amos, a King by the name of David and a military general by the name of Joshua.  You have a fisherman by the name of John, a cupbearer by the name of Nehemiah, a priest by the name of Ezekiel, a doctor by the name of Luke and so the list could continue!!  Paul wrote from prison in Rome, Ezekiel from captivity in Babylon and John from exile on the Isle of Patmos.  David wrote from his royal palace in Jerusalem and his son Solomon later did the same.  Yet In spite of this, the 66 books of the Bible speak with such unanimity and consensus, a single voice that’s without contradiction.

This teaching take's a look at the character of the Bible, its structure and it's composition.

Genesis 39:1-10

Joseph, a man of whom it could be said; "the Lord was with Him".  A man who had a mark upon his life against which was written the word integrity!!  When tried by Potiphar's wife he did not falter; he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.  The sin of adultery has slain it's 10 000's of God's ministers.  This message is a cry from the Father's heart in a generation where many are falling prey to the sin of adultery.  A warning to all God's people and especially those in position of leadership - guard your hearts and set a watch over your eyes - don't fall prey to the sin of adultery!
